For two design items at $125 each with 5% tax, the subtotal is $250, tax is $12.50 and the invoice total is $262.50.
Order of discount and tax
Line total = quantity × rate. Subtotal = sum of line totals. Discount is removed from the subtotal first; tax is then applied to the discounted amount.
