Using this tool

Build the grade from its actual parts

Add each completed assessment with its score and percentage weight. GradePilot totals the weighted points already earned, shows how much of the course remains and solves for the average needed on that unfinished work.

Reading the output

Read the remaining target correctly

Worked example

A 70% completed course

Coursework scored at 82% and worth 70% contributes 57.4 points. To finish with 80% overall, the remaining 30% must contribute 22.6 points, so the required average is 75.3%.

Calculation

Weighted points, step by step

Weighted points earned = Σ(score × weight ÷ 100). Required remaining average = (target − earned points) ÷ remaining weight × 100.

Limitations

Check the syllabus first

  • Copy weights from the syllabus; do not treat raw point totals as percentages unless the course does.
  • The assessment weights should total no more than 100%.
  • Letter and 4.0 displays are estimates because schools use different boundaries.

Before relying on the result

Targets, weights and grading scales

Why is the required result above 100%?

The completed assessments have left too few weighted points available to reach the target without bonus credit.

What does a result below zero mean?

The weighted points already earned are enough to meet the selected target, even before the remaining work is counted.
