Aspect Ratio Sizes: 16:9, 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1
An aspect ratio describes shape, not resolution. A 16:9 image can be 1920 x 1080, 1280 x 720 or any other pair of dimensions that keeps the same relationship.

Use a quick size reference
Common starting sizes include 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 for 16:9, 1080 x 1920 for 9:16, 1080 x 1350 for 4:5, and 1080 x 1080 for 1:1. These are convenient examples, not universal upload requirements.

Solve the missing dimension
When the ratio is width:height, divide the known width by the first ratio number and multiply by the second to find height. For a 1200-pixel-wide 4:5 image, 1200 divided by 4 and multiplied by 5 gives 1500 pixels high.

Choose crop or fit
Cropping fills the destination frame but removes material from the top, bottom or sides. Fitting preserves the whole image but can leave empty space. Check faces, captions and important edge details before choosing.

Is 1920 x 1080 always 16:9?
Yes. Both numbers divide to the 16:9 relationship, often called Full HD.
What is the best ratio for a vertical image?
It depends on the destination. 9:16 fills many vertical video frames, while 4:5 is a common portrait post shape. Check the current platform specification.
Does changing the aspect ratio reduce quality?
The ratio itself does not. Quality can drop when pixels are removed by cropping, a small image is enlarged, or the exported file is heavily compressed.
